Shawn Dorius

 

Dr. Dorius is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Iowa State University, teaching courses in demography, international development, research methods, and community sociology. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Master’s in Sociology from Brigham Young University and his Ph.D. in Sociology and Demography from Pennsylvania State University. He completed a postdoctoral scholar position with the Population Studies Center at the University of Michigan. He was a research associate with the Survey Research Center in the Institute for Social Research. His research interests include social demography, community well-being, computational social science methods, and comparative attitudes towards China. In addition, he is currently interested in studying the landscape of substance use in Iowa and working with The Substance Abuse Bureau of the Iowa Department of Public Health to evaluate substance use recovery networks across the state and country.
